An art and printmaking blog exploring my attempts at color woodblock printmaking using traditional Japanese moku hanga methods. But there are also occasional ramblings about life, art, winemaking and pizza ovens.
I have a few more layers down, working off two background blocks.
There's a very pale carmine bokashi background that went down first,
then a pale yellow bokashi and now and then an ultramarine blue followed
by another orange glaze.
Rain is expected so I'll be able to escape to the studio and I hope to finish this in the next day or so.
I am an ex-Emergency Physician who fled to become an urban farmer just outside Florence, Italy with my Italian wife and two children. We divide our time and energies between Italy and Santa Cruz, California. I am also a part-time artist working in watercolor, woodcut relief printmaking and stonecarving.
